    Use

This feature helps you to improve
    1. FPS by minimizing the detail of textures
    2. Aim by clearing out any distractions
Note: There's no separation between character textures and map textures like in GunZ: The Duel!

    Description

    Source: http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/ScriptReference/Texture-mipMapBias.html

    How to apply

    1. Go to: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Gunz2\Config\Config.xml
    2. Open with notepad.
    3. Adjust your mipmapbias to a range within -1.000 - 10.000 (10 is for the lowest graphics possible)
Recommendation: mipmapbias 3, low physic quality, low shadow quality, all off (except lighting)

Note: The higher you go, the more it blurs the textures. I'd recommend you on going through all ten different numbers.

Attention: Unlike in GunZ: The Duel, once you've set a value in your config to your graphics, you do not need to worry about the game resetting it, thus you can adapt every option in-game without experiencing any problems.

The settings of the graphic options play a huge part when doing this, please manually adjust everything else in-game to your liking:

Settings on low (all options off): mipmapbias 10

Definitely one of those threads that should be stickied, this is so useful for those who can't run the game well.

Thank you, would be quite nice. Moreover, it definitely helps to sort out anything that might disturb your aim/sight. ;)

Oh man, that was such an issue with the first game actually. Especially in town where all the colours just blend in together.

0.000 fits well for 640x480 resolution. (or -1.000 for better quality)
The textures looks decent enough and are not too big.

As I said, you can experiment with the values.
To be honest, it's not the range of 1-10, but -0.999 to 10.000.

    Best regards.

It would be quite awesome if someone would make only baked baked AO shown up on the map with fully textured characters

I know what you're talking about. To our misfortune, there's no separation between map textures and character textures in the settings.

Its not good at all tbh, you can barely see if you hit somebody, and ur characters are non textured aswell so they dont pop out of the faded background, making it even a disadvantage since looking at the fact you can barely see if you hit someone. In short, it sucks. You gotta have maps totally white, with only characters popping out fully textured.

Your opinion, and I respect it. Personally, my config works better for me. As I've stated, there's currently no texture separation between the map and characters. Maybe if we rise awareness to this necessity, Maiet could implement it later.

Additionally, your point of not being able to see whether you've hit somebody or not does not make sense at all, since the game notices whether you've hit somebody or not or did I misunderstand something in your statement?

I dont mean you can't see the hp, you can't see ur bullets and the impact of it, its annoying.

Have you tried the one with the settings all high (physics & shadow) ? Works perfectly for me regarding that matter you bring up.
As I said, you must experiment with the different value numbers and options the game provides. (HDR etc.) Every set up looks different.
Instead of the mipmapbias 10, I'd recommend you on testing it within the range from 1-3.

Cba trying all that out tbh LOL. Some p-servers on GunZ 1 had an archetype config in the options in-game itself. MAIET should consider implementing that, after all we will all use it.

Is it possible to change mapbias without enabling Lighting effects?

I normally run the game at ~135FPS at low settings. Changing any of the settings will bring me to 60 FPS max, Lighting is 30-60 usually towards 40 if I am looking around.

Changing mapbias without having "custom" settings has no effects.

What do you mean? My settings are set to low and it still works for me
  18. ellinas95

    ellinas95 Member

If I have the settings set to low (Lighting disabled), changing the mapbias in the config (and saving ofc) has no effect in the game.

When you select low settings and apply them you have to close the game and then edit the file when the game is not running.

HellaHell is right. The config.xml can't be manually edited while you're ingame, the changes won't apply. I recommend you on setting the mipmapbias to the value 3 and adjust the other settings in-game. If you still have not achieved the desired effect, close the game and increase the mipmapbias by 1.
